Math and Science Connection is a resource for parents. It includes math and science tips and activities to do at home. The beginning edition is for K-2 students and the intermediate edition is for 3-5 students.

100 Ways for Parents to Be Involved in Their Child's Education

1. Address concerns or questions honestly, openly and early on.

2. Attend PTA or parent meetings regularly.

3. Read classroom and/or school newsletters.

4. Visit your school's web page.

5. Know school staff's extensions and office hours.

6. Read and know your school's handbook.

7. Share your family's culture, values, and parenting practices    

   with your child's school. 

8. Share your perceptions with educators and school staff    

   of how parents are treated.

9. Work with school staff and educators to revise and improve    

   perceptions and school climate.

10. Meet your child's friends and get to know their parents.  

Parental involvement means the participation

of parents in regular, two-way, and

meaningful communication involving

student academic learning and other

school activities, including ensuring—

(A)    that parents play an integral role in

assisting their child’s learning;

(B)    that parents are encouraged to be actively

involved in their child’s education at school;

(C)    that parents are full partners in their child’s

education and are included, as appropriate, in

decision-making and on advisory committees to

assist in the education of their child;

(D)    the carrying out of other activities, such as

those described in section 1118 of the ESEA.
