America's Safe Schools Week
Red Ribbon Week is the oldest drug prevention campaign in the country. The dates vary depending on the organization but it generally occurs the last full week in October. Red Ribbon Week is a celebration of drug prevention awareness that includes school and community events. It commemorates the death of DEA Special Agent Kiki Camarena who died while working undercover in Mexico. Red Ribbon Week sends the message that your school and community are unified in striving for a drug free environment for students and families. The celebration honors Agent Camerena and others who have died fighting drug wars.
